Sunbathing on sandy white beaches, soaking in volcanic mud baths of Soufrière, and ziplining through lush rainforests. This Eastern Caribbean island is the ultimate luxury escape! These fun facts about the destination will help you get to know the island you’re about to visit while on your all-inclusive St. Lucia vacation.

1) 1st Country named after a woman

St. Lucia is just one of two countries in the world to be named after a woman. It’s named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse. (Ireland is the other country named after a woman - the Celtic goddess of fertility, Eire.)

2) St. Lucia Parrot

St. Lucia is the only country you’ll find the Jacquot or the St. Lucia parrot. This species of parrot is in the Psittacidae family. It’s St. Lucia’s national bird.

3) World’s only “drive-in” volcano

The Sulphur Springs are the world’s only “drive-in volcano” with viewing platforms just above the caldera. One of the best features of this volcano is that people can dive into the mud baths to detoxify the body and help heal burns, eczema, arthritis, and sore joints. Afterwards, wash off with a refreshing natural rainforest bath.

4) 21+ Types of Rum

The Roseau Valley is home to many distilleries that offer over 21 different types of rum.

5) Over 70% rainforest

St. Lucia is covered in lush rainforest (in addition to their beaches and mountains). The island has 238 square miles of rainforest as well as 98 miles of coastline.

6) Blackbeard’s treasure

It’s rumored that the pirate Blackbeard buried some of his treasure in Vieux Fort, one of the 10 districts in St. Lucia. Part of Vieux Fort is called Black Bay, named after the pirate.

7) 180+ Bird Species

St. Lucia is a haven for avarian animals and home to over 180 bird species. Out of these, 5 species are endemic, meaning they are native to St. Lucia.

The Pitons

The Pitons are St. Lucia's twin towering peaks. They were formed by volcanic activity about 200,000 to 300,000 years ago. If you're a diver, you can explore them as underwater cliffs.

Marigot Bay

Arguably the most beautiful bay on St. Lucia, Marigot is best viewed from a vista point on the road between the main Caribbean coastal route and the bay itself.

Sulphur Springs

Known as the world’s only drive-in volcano, Sulphur Springs is a natural site where visitors can experience the black water pool baths.

Pigeon Island National Park

One of the most vibrant, beautiful places in St. Lucia, Pigeon Island is a historic area with the 18th-century Fort Rodney, military remains & Martinique views from Signal Hill.

Anse Chastanet Beach

Best for its snorkeling and diving, Anse Chastanet is a peaceful beach featuring an abundance of sea life with different fish and corals.

Toraille waterfall

One of St. Lucia’s most popular waterfalls, Toraille features a 50 foot drop of water in a lush rainforest setting.

Travel Tips Before Your All-Inclusive St. Lucia Vacation

1) Get organized.

Keep all of your important documents in one centrally located, safe place.

2) Choose luggage wisely.

Choose luggage that fits easily into overhead compartments. (Click here to see what luggage I recommend!)

3) Choose the right headphones.

Pack an eye mask and noise-cancelling headphones to help you sleep. (Click here to check out my carry-on essentials list!)

4) Plan your arrival.

Review arrival travel forms required in your destination.

5) Use packing cubes.

They may appear to be simple, but trust me, it makes packing and repacking much easier!

6) Get a good travel credit card.

Foreign transaction fees can add up so get a card that waives those extra charges. I use and like the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Another great card is the Chase Sapphire Reserved (which I’m considering upgrading to!)

7) Purchase travel insurance.

Protect your investment from unexpected occurrences. The plan can provide coverage in the event of travel delays, baggage loss, and trip cancellation and trip interruption for a sickness, injury or death to you or a family member and more. If you’d like to protect your all-inclusive St. Lucia vacation, book a complimentary 30-minute consultation with me so we can discuss your needs and get you covered!
