Travelers can find a home away from home in this six-room luxury boutique inn and spa. Cumberland Falls has been welcoming adult guests for the past 25 years. Today, Cumberland Falls Bed & Breakfast Inn is being looked after by Angela and David, and they couldn’t be in better hands.
Angela, who is originally from Park City, Utah, has years of experience in hospitality, and loved the idea of being able to meet people from all over the world.
“We want guests to feel like they have everything they need,” Angela explained to me. “We have stayed at countless bed and breakfasts, and we’ve taken the best away from every single place visited and brought that back to Cumberland Falls.”
Well...I can attest to the fact that Angela and David have certainly delivered on that vision for Cumberland Falls. They truly have thought of everything, and it shows in the innkeepers’ great attention to detail. Described as casually elegant, Cumberland Falls Bed and Breakfast Inn offers the opportunity for both luxury and relaxation.
The 3-Course Breakfast
Every morning, the dining room and solarium tables are set with beautiful crystal glassware, linen napkins, and colorful chargers. Cumberland Falls offers guests picture perfect table settings, fit for the Vanderbilts themselves.
An assortment of teas and coffees are available in addition to fresh squeezed juice. The three-course breakfast is homemade and created with fresh ingredients to ensure you get the perfect start to your day.
After breakfast concludes, you can come back to the dining room in the afternoon for complimentary treats and snacks, hot beverages, and happy hour with wine, cheese, and crackers. Or just stop by to say hi to the fish in their dining room aquarium that’s built into the wall!
The Rooms
Rooms offer privacy and relaxation with features like in-room refrigerators, plush bath robes, and ceiling fans. Guests have the option of having fresh coffee delivered to their room every morning before breakfast (which is a delightful complimentary service)!
It was so nice to have the mini refrigerator in our room along with a bottle opener for our wine. I loved coming back to our room with two glasses of wine and cheese and crackers waiting for us!
The Grounds
Though we visited in the winter, the garden’s care and attention to detail was still apparent on the property. When in season, bright, colorful perennials and evergreens characterize the landscape. There are multiple outdoor seating arrangements available, including a fire pit setting for nighttime star gazing.
It’s easy to get in touch with nature while staying at Cumberland Falls as the sounds of water features echo through the property. Admire the koi fish in the pond as you listen to the trickling of small pond waterfalls and fountains. Watch the squirrels and chipmunks forage for nuts. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a roaming bear!
Cumberland Falls is in a great location that’s only a 15-minute walk to downtown Asheville. There are bikes available for rent for you to explore Asheville and the historic Montford neighborhood.
Beyond just a luxurious place to stay at, Cumberland Falls features unique services to enhance your vacation experience.
Hike Bike Kayak Asheville
A Certified Blue Ridge Parkway and Western North Carolina Naturalist, David is delighted to take guests hiking, kayaking and on Parkway trips through his tour guide company, Hike Bike Kayak Asheville.
“We don’t want to just provide our guests with an outdoor activity. We want them to walk away from their adventure also having learned something new about sustainability and the Appalachian region,” says David.
The Spa
Located on the lower level of the Inn is The Spa Under the Falls - the perfect place to unwind and relax. The Spa Under the Falls offers a variety of massage options, including deep tissue, Swedish, prenatal, sports, and Thai as well as massage enhancements like aromatherapy and hot stones.
After a long day walking around Pisgah National Forest or the Biltmore Estate, you can come back to The Spa Under the Falls and receive a relaxing Foot Soak in heated massage chairs with complimentary tea. Choose from Calming Lavender/Chamomile, Invigorating Peppermint/Rosemary, or Blissful Rose Petals/Coconut Milk for your bath water followed by a jojoba oil infused sugar scrub.
